The fact is, I was disappointed with the performance and just couldn’t get used to the swing weight, sound or feel of the composite drivers.
I was getting quite a bit more distance than my friends were with their pitching wedges, looked it up and it was like 45* compared to their 47* and 49* pitching wedges.Ī few of my friends that have been golfing the majority of their lives have also commented how forgiving and easy my clubs are to hit.Or is it? I have to admit, after using Callaway drivers for years, I had found that I was just not very happy with many of their models. Keep in mind that these lofts are a different.
My driver has taken a beating and then some and it just keeps me smiling and performs well even after my newbie abuse. I played a lot last year and wore those original down pretty quick. Only added putter (Odyssey #6 Xmilled) 56* and 60* (Callaway Tourgrinds) wedges from and then also got some new grips after Christmas. The clubs have been very forgiving, my skills have improved greatly since I have started and they keep me super happy every outing. Believe my total price was around $799 + tax. I bought a complete set of X-hot's from Golfsmith, also package deal PW,9,8,7,6,5, 4 hybrid, 3 hybrid, 3 wood and 10.5 Driver and also a Callaway 14 way Cart bag. Started the search for a good set of clubs and these were the easiest for me to hit in the store and there was a package deal, so went with them. I am a new golfer, started mid July last year and was instantly hooked on this silly game. My friend also recommends Nike covert irons, can be had for around the same price if you find them on sale. I went from 125 a round to 90's in one year on this set, as a brand new golfer. Also a lob wedge, as the highest loft is the 54 sand and I like to have a 58-60 for short flops. I'd still be using them if there was no bio cell lineup.Ĭostco has a fantastic 2 year warranty so rest easy on that purchase. The woods are very simple, I needed to trade mine in because I fell in love with the bio cell gear, nothing else impressed me enough to switch over though. They are sturdy and look clean at address - the cavity is completely out of sight which I like. The irons are the best I've hit, good forgiving face and good feel/loft.
I spent a full season on the set and am just trading the woods and hybrid into some cobra bio cell clubs which suit me better. If they're anything like last years Callaway Razr Edge deal (also Costco only) it's a highly respected set of clubs for the cash.
